Everything you need to know about Lock In.

Getting Started

Lock In is a keyboard-driven session intelligence tool that tracks your focus sessions. Whether you're grinding through problem sets, revising for exams, or doing deep work — Lock In measures exactly how you spend your time, question by question.

Sign in with Google — it takes two seconds. No passwords, no forms, no friction. You're in and ready to start your first session immediately.

Lock In is built for desktop. A full keyboard and screen are part of the experience. Mobile support may come later, but right now the focus is on giving you the best possible desktop session tool.

The Free tier is yours forever — unlimited sessions, basic analytics, goal tracking, and full access to The Forge progression system. If you want advanced timer modes, unlimited history, and deeper analytics, Pro is a one-time purchase. No subscriptions.

Session Modes

Lock In offers five distinct session modes, each designed for a different kind of work. Standard mode is free. The other four are available with Pro.

Question Mode (Standard)

The default mode. Set a subject, set your number of questions, and start. The timer counts up per question, tracking exactly how long each one takes. When you're done, you get a full breakdown of your session — time per question, accuracy, pace, everything.

Best for: homework, problem sets, practice papers, and any work where you know how many questions you're tackling.

Free Flow

An open-ended timed session with no fixed question count. Start the timer, do your work, and end manually when you're done. Free Flow tracks total time and lets you log laps as you go.

Best for: reading, revision, open-ended study, and anything where you don't have a set number of questions.

The Split

A two-pass solving mode. In Pass 1, you work through all your questions. Then Pass 2 kicks in — a dedicated review phase where you go back and check your answers. The Split enforces the discipline of attempting first, reviewing second.

Best for: revision sessions where you need to separate solving from checking, and practice papers where review is part of the process.

Velocity Mode

Speed-focused. Velocity Mode tracks your questions per minute in real time with a live pace indicator. It pushes you to work faster and beat your personal best. Your top QPM is recorded so you can chase it in future sessions.

Best for: speed drills, timed practice, and building raw solving speed when you already know the material.

Exam Sim

Simulates real exam conditions. Set your total questions, set a time limit, and configure negative marking — marks per correct answer and marks deducted per wrong answer. When the session ends, a score calculator shows your projected exam score.

Best for: full mock tests, exam day practice, and any situation where you want to replicate the pressure and scoring of a real exam.

Keyboard Shortcuts

During any active session, these keys control your flow:

SpaceMark as Solved — you got it right
Mark for Review — you solved it but want to revisit
Skip — move to next, come back later
Blank — you didn't attempt it
Undo — go back one question
EscPause session
EnterResume from pause

Why keyboard? Because clicking a mouse between every question breaks your flow. Keyboard shortcuts let you log answers without looking away from your work. Your hands stay on the keyboard, your eyes stay on the problem. That's the point.

Subjects

Create custom subjects during session setup. Every session is tagged with a subject, and all your analytics are organized by it.

Over time, you'll see which subjects you're strongest in, which ones you struggle with, and where your time actually goes. Subjects are the backbone of your analytics — the more consistently you tag sessions, the more useful your data becomes.

Analytics

After every session, you get a detailed breakdown:

  • Total time and average pace per question
  • Breakdown: how many solved, marked, skipped, blank
  • Time distribution across questions
  • Performance trends over multiple sessions
  • Exam Sim: projected score with negative marking applied

Pro unlocks advanced analytics — deeper trends, subject-level insights, and historical comparisons that help you spot patterns you'd never notice on your own.

The Forge

The Forge is Lock In's progression system. Every session earns you forge points. The more you grind, the higher you climb.

How Points Work

Points are earned based on session length and questions completed. Longer sessions and more questions mean more points. Consistency matters — regular sessions compound over time, and that's where real progress lives.

Ranks

Your total forge points determine your rank. Each rank has a unique color and blade:

Raw (0 pts) — you're just getting started

Grinding (100 pts) — building the habit

Focused (300 pts) — showing up consistently

Consistent (600 pts) — the habit is forming

Sharp (1,000 pts) — you're in the zone

Locked In (1,500 pts) — peak performance

Forged (2,200 pts) — elite territory

Tempered (3,000 pts) — the highest rank, pure mastery

The Blade

Your blade is a visual artifact that evolves as you rank up. It starts rough and becomes refined — a reflection of your discipline. Every rank changes the blade, and every change is earned. It's not cosmetic. It's proof.

Session History

Every completed session is saved automatically. You can view past sessions with full analytics — time breakdowns, status distributions, pace data, everything.

Delete sessions you don't want. Track your progress over days, weeks, and months. Free users get 7 days of history. Pro users get unlimited.

Goals

Set custom goals — “Complete 50 questions this week,” “Study 3 hours today,” whatever matters to you. Log progress daily and watch the visual progress bar fill up as you close in on your target.

Goals give your sessions purpose. Instead of just grinding, you're grinding toward something specific.

Shareable Session Cards

After completing a session, generate a shareable PNG card with your stats — time, questions, accuracy, pace. Share it with friends, post it on socials, flex your grind. Available with Pro.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Lock In

  • Use keyboard shortcuts — don't touch the mouse during sessions. The whole point is uninterrupted flow.
  • Be honest with marking. Blank is better than a wrong solve marked as correct. Your data is only as good as your honesty.
  • Check your analytics after every session. The patterns are in the data — time spent, accuracy trends, subject weaknesses.
  • Set weekly goals and actually log them. A goal without tracking is just a wish.
  • Chase Forge ranks for motivation. The grind compounds — every session moves you closer to the next rank.
